DCC North announces Taka 1985 crore budget

Dhaka north city corporation (DCC North) on Wednesday announced its second budget after division of DCC in 2011 with Tk 1984.53 crore for the fiscal year 2013-14. Thre buget was Tk 1017.61 crore in the last fiscal.Akhter Hussain Bhuiya, administrator of DNCC, presented the budget at the city’s Spectrum Convention Center.
The corporation has set a target of Tk 746.55 crore for revenue collection in the ongoing proposed fiscal year.
In the new fiscal year, the corporation expects to earn Tk 388 crore from holding taxes, Tk 136.50 crore from bazaar levy and rents.
Besides, the corporation expects to earn Tk 25 crore from trade licence fees, Tk 10 crore from advertisement fees, Tk. 6.50 crore from bus, truck and terminal, Tk 12 crore from cattle haat, Tk 40 crore from roads excavation fees and Tk 110 crore from estate exchanges, he said.
In addition, the corporation expects to get Tk 18 crore from the government development grants including special grants and Tk 493 crore from government and foreign funded projects, Akhter Hussain Bhuiya said
The corporation also expects to get Tk 35 crore from government and non-government projects on the basis of public private partnership (PPP) and Tk 639.49 crore from the proposed government and foreign funded projects, he added.
The corporation has planned an expenditure target of Tk 1705.06 crore under the development head in the new fiscal year, which is 86 percent of the total budget.
The DCC North would spend Tk 205 crore in  salaries of employers and employees, waste management, mosquito control programme, repair and maintenance.
The corporation has planned to finance from its own resources Tk 236 crore for the maintenance of road and traffic infrastructure for better facilities of the city dwellers.
Under the new budget, Tk 6.50 crore has been allocated for the development of parks and playgrounds and Tk 102.32 crore for the development and maintenance of regional offices and Bazars, he added.
The function was attended by, among others,  chief executive officer BM Enamul Haque, secretary Abu syed Sheikh, chief engineer Brig Gen Abul Khair, chief health officer Brig Gen (dr) Md Afzalur Rahman, chief waster management officer Bipan Kumer Saha.
