Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) on Thursday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Institution of Diploma Engineers, Bangladesh (IDEB) to promote DCCI’s project of creating 2,000 new entrepreneurs. DCCI president M Sabur Khan and IDEB president AKMA Hamid signed the MoU on behalf of their respective organisations at a ceremony at the IDEB auditorium, said a DCCI press release. Director General of Bangladesh Television M Hamid and General Manager of SME-SPD of Bangladesh Bank Sukamal Sinha Chowdhury were present on the occasion. During the signing ceremony, Sabur Khan said the main purpose of the MoU is to facilitate the diploma engineers of different vocational sectors like agriculture, food, food processing, ICT, mechanical engineering, repairing workshops and civil engineering so that they can become entrepreneurs rather looking for job only. He urged all concerned for taking initiatives to include ‘Entrepreneurship’ in the curriculum of Diploma Engineering course. Sabur said Bangladesh’s potential sectors, products and non-traditional items will come out and reach to the international market only by entrepreneurship. “We have to motivate our youth section of people to take the challenge of entrepreneurship,” he said. – UNB
