Dhaka – The number of dengue patients continued to rise as a total of 1,477 more people infected with the mosquito-borne fever were hospitalised across the country in the last 24 hours till 8am on Wednesday.
Of them, 928 dengue cases were reported in the capital alone. Two of them were suffering from dengue hemorrhagic or severe dengue.
On Tuesday, 1,300 new dengue cases were reported while the number was 1,096 on Monday, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
Currently, 4,903 dengue patients are being treated in hospitals across the country, it said.
From January 1 till the date, 17,183 dengue patients were admitted to hospitals and 12,266 of them released after treatment.
Besides, 14 dengue patients died during the period as per the official count although the unofficial death toll is much higher.
According to reports reaching the UNB news desk, a number of people were infected with dengue fever anew across the country.
In Brahmanbaria, 28 people were diagnosed with the disease and 19 of them admitted to Sadar Hospital, said Civil Surgeon Dr Md Shah Alam.
He said special dengue corners have been opened at upazila health complexes apart from Sadar Hospital for the dengue patients.
In Netrakona, five people with dengue fever were admitted to Sadar Hospital, said Civil Surgeon Dr Tajul Islam.
All the patients were bitten by Aedes mosquito in the capital and later they went to their villages, he said.
In Narail, a total of four people, including two children, were hospitalised with dengue infection, said Resident Medical Officer of Sadar Hospital Dr AFM Moshiur Rahman.
A medical team has been working to tackle the situation, he said.
In Kurigram, two new dengue patients were admitted to Sadar Hospital on Wednesday, raising the total number in the district to 11.All of them got infected in Dhaka and travelled to their village homes later, he said.UNB
