Depresson over Bay,ports asked to signal No 3

The depression over East central Bay and adjoining area moved slightly Northwards over the same area on Friday. It was centered at 6 am about 565 kms South of Chttagong Port, 470 kms South of Cox’s Bazar port, 610 kms South Southeast of Mongla port and 550 kms South Southeast of Payra port. It is likely to intensify further and move in a north-northwesterly direction, said a Met office bulletin. Maximum sustained wind speed within 44 kms of the depression centre is about 40 kph rising to 50 kph in gusts or squalls. Sea will remain moderate near the system centre. Under the influence of depression deep convection is taking place over north Bay. Squally weather may affect north Bay, adjoining costal area and the maritime ports of Bangladsh. Maritime ports of Chittagong, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to hoist distant cautionary signal no three. All fishing boats, trawlers and marine vessels over the North Bay have been advised to come close and proceed with caution till further notice. They are also advised not to venture into the deep sea. – UNB
