Rail communications of Dhaka with Chittagong and Sylhet were disrupted on Thursday morning following the derailment of six bogies of an express train at Puniaut rail crossing of the district town.
Railway sources said six bogies of the Dhaka-bound inter city ‘Upakul Express’ train from Noakhali veered off the tracks in the area around
11:00am, halting train communications on the Dhaka-Chittagong and Dhaka-Sylhet routes.
Several trains got stranded on both routes following the accident, causing sufferings to the passengers.
A relief train from Akhaura went to the spot to salvage the bogies.
