Dhaka, Feb 8 (UNB) – Children and grandchildren of freedom fighters (FFs) on Friday blocked Shahbagh intersection in the city to realise their six-point demand, including reinstatement of 30 percent quota facilities for them in government jobs.
Witnesses said over 200 protesters under the banner of ‘Muktijoddhar Santan and Projonmo’ took to the street around 5pm and blocked the intersection, halting vehicular movement on the city’s key intersection.
They were staging demonstrations till filing of this report around 7:30pm.
Their other demands include ensuring punishment of those defamed the Father of the Nation, his family members and freedom fighters, confiscating the property of Razakars, disqualifying their children for government jobs and terminating those currently in service, ensuring freedom fighters’ constitutional recognition and enacting their family protection law, and proportionately increasing the age limit of the children and descendants of freedom fighters for government jobs.
