Dhaka – A massive fire broke out at DCC market in Gulshan area of the city early Tuesday.The fire originated from the DCC kitchen market around 2.30am and later engulfed the whole market, said Bhaojon Kumar Sarker, duty officer of the Fire Service and Civil Defence (FSCD) control room.
Twenty units of firefighters are trying to douse the fire, he added while talking to reporters around 8:10am.
Around 100 shops were burnt and a small portion of the two-storey market collapsed following the fire. Fire fighters are still trying to control the blaze that has the risk of spreading to nearby buildings due to northwesterly breeze, reporters from the spot said.
The cause of fire and further details of the incident could not be known immediately. – UNB
