Dhaka South City Corpn budget Taka 36 billion

The Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) has announced a budget of Tk 3,598.75 crore for the fiscal year 2018-19.

South City Mayor Syed Khokon announced the budget at a meeting at the Nagar Bhaban auditorium on Wednesday.

The revised budget of the fiscal year 2017-18 was Tk 2014.31 crore.

The Mayor also sought assistance from the city dwellers to implement the budget saying, “I will give you a livable city if you (city dwellers) stay with me.”

The revenue income in the new budget from own source is k 909.42 crore which include holding tax Tk 330 crore, market salami (possession fee) Tk 305 crore, trade license fees Tk 80crore, assets handover fee Tk 100 croreand other sources.

The government will provide Tk 70 crore as grant and Tk 439.86 crore as special allowance. Besides, Tk 2048.63 crore will come from government and private aid based project.

The expenditure in the budget include salaries and allowances Tk 340.00 crore, road and traffic infrastructure maintenance and development Tk 782.83crore, physical infrastructure building and development Tk 395.26crore, electricity, fuel, water and gas bills of Tk 109 crore, repairing and renovation Tk 27.75 crore.

Besides, mosquito control Tk 26 crore , equipment Tk 756.16 crore, special development Tk 15 crore, development of graveyards and cremation fields Tk 42.50 crore , development of civic entertainment facilities Tk 143.75 crore, environmental development Tk138.94 crore and land acquisition and development Tk 174.28 crore, new market construction Tk 200 crore, construction of new modern slaughter house Tk 66.56 crore and construction of cleaning employees’ residence Tk 64.50 crore, etc.

In his budget speech, the DSCC Mayor also narrated the development projects implemented by the DSCC and their future plans.

He claimed that the DSCC has been changed as it has been moving towards development and development works are being gradually visible. “The development activities which were completed in the last three years would not be accomplished in the last ten years,” he said.
