DHAKA: Foreign Minister Dr Dipu Moni Sunday said the government would not accept the recommendations made by Turkey President Abdullah Gul for forgiving the war criminals.
The foreign minister came up with the assertion in her reaction Sunday about the letter sent by Turkey President for forgiving the people detained for their involvement in crimes against humanity during liberation war in 1971.
She said, “Turkey also sentenced their war criminals to death forming special tribunal and we are also conducting the trial as per existing law of the country.”
On December 23, the Turkey president sent two letters to President M Zillur Rahman and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina urging to forgive the war criminals mentioning that the detained are already much aged.
Gul also said in his letter that Bangladesh may face socio-economical instability after giving verdict of the war criminals.
