Doctors trying to stitch a teacher’s hand severed in an accident

Dhaka, March 10 – An injured teacher of Willes Little Flower School whose left hand has been severed in a road accident was brought in Dhaka for better treatment, sources said. The teacher—Fahima Begum—is now getting treatment in Sheikh Hasina burn and plastic surgery unit of Dhaka Medical College. Doctors are trying to stitch his severed hand, sources added.
Earlier, Fahima lost her left hand and 12 students were injured as a bus carrying them hit a truck in Ghonapara area of Gopalganj’s Sadar Upazila today.
According to Gopalganj Fire Service and Civil Defence sources, the bus carrying students and teachers of the college branch of Wills Little Flower School and College of Dhaka hit a stranded truck at around 12 pm as its driver lost control over the steering.
They came to Gopalganj on a study tour and was going to visit the monument of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in Tungipara.
Immediately after the accident, the injured teacher and 11 students of Willes Little Flower School were admitted to 250-bed Gopalganj General Hospital, Dr Ayesha Akter, assistant director of the control room of Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), said.
Later Fahima was flown in a helicopter to Dhaka in the afternoon. – Staff Reporter
