Don’t isolate me from people with security measures: PM

Dhaka, Jul 15 – Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Saturday asked the Special Security Force (SSF) personnel to be careful so that security measures do not isolate her from the common people as they are at the centre of all power.
“It’s not possible to serve people being isolated from them, we’re accountable to people as the public representative…you’ll have to be careful about it,” she said.The Prime Minister was addressing a function marking the 331st founding anniversary of SSF at the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).
She mentioned that the power belongs to people as stated in the Constitution. “In the parliamentary form of government, every activity of the government is formulated and implemented for the welfare of people.”
The Prime Minister asked the SSF members to coordinate between the desire of people and performing of their duties.
“It’ll be commendable on your part to ensure the highest level of security with professionalism by keeping the VIPs’ normal pro-people activities, not creating any distance from mass people,” she said.
She said the SSF personnel should consider the public relations of the VIPs with utmost importance.
The Prime Minister said the SSF members should consider with importance about the attainment of strength of character, higher discipline, honesty, responsibility and human qualities alongside improving professional skills.
She asked them to maintain good relations, close contact and coordination among all associate agencies for ensuring foolproof security circle.
Earlier, Director General of SSF Major General Major General Md Shafiqur Rahman delivered the welcome address.
The chiefs of the three services, the Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister, the PMO Secretary, the Press Secretary to the Prime Minister and senior officials of the PMO were, among others, present. – UNB
