Draft law to confiscate war criminals property on anvil: Anisul

Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anisul Huq today said work is going on to make a draft law for confiscating properties of convicted war criminals.The minister told newsmen after attending prize giving ceremony organized by Manusher Jonno Foundation at Bangla Academy.Presided over by foundation chairman Syed Manzur Elahi, the function was addressed by its executive director Shahin Anam, Shishu Academy chairman Selina Hossain and Ain o Salish Kendra (ASK) executive director Sultana Kamal.

“We will surely bring the culprits of Nasirnagar and Gobindganj to justice and will do whatever it needs to ensure exemplary punishment to them. We will make an instance so that none can dare to repeat such offence in the future,” Anisul added.Defending keeping a provision for special circumstances under which girls below 18 could tie the knot in the draft law passed by the cabinet recently in this regard; Anisul said, “If such circumstances arise with no provision to tackle, what will happen? We have to consider all the possible scenarios.”Ten human rights activists were awarded at the function for their work marking World Human Rights Day.
