Drinking water for all the people of the country by 2030

Mymensingh, July 29 – Drinking water will be provided to the garment industry by 2030 as well as all people of the country. The Deputy Minister of Water Resources Ministry AKM Enamul Haque Shamim said this at a workshop titled ‘Gender Discrimination, Water and Empowerment among Textile Industry Employees of the country’ organized at Professor Muzaffar Ahmed Auditorium of Dhaka University on Monday at 9am.The workshop was organized by the University of Oxford, Dhaka University, Bangladesh Agricultural University, Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology. At the initiative of these four universities, the life of 30 workers working in the garment factory of Vadam area of Gazipur district were closely researched. The results of this study were presented by BAU Prof of Agricultural Economics department Dr Sadika Haque in the workshop as a keynote paper.
Supernumerary Professor of Sociology department of Dhaka University. A.I. Mahbub Uddin Ahmed presided the program while Deputy Chief Minister of Water Resources Ministry AKM Enamul Haque Shamim was present as the chief guest. Emeritus professor of Agricultural Economics department of BAU prof. Dr. M.A. Sattar Mondal, Director General of Bangladesh Water Development Board Md. Mahfuzur Rahman, Professor at Coventry University Dr. Dipa Josi and Dean of Sociology Faculty of Dhaka University Professor Dr. Sarika Halim were also present as special guest. – BAU Correspondent
