Drives against drug traders to continue: Home Minister

Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan said on Saturday that the law enforcers’ drives against drug traders will continue until narcotics trading is completely eliminated from the country.

The minister was talking to reporters after visiting four wounded Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) members at Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in the city.

Earlier on Thursday night, a suspected drug trader was killed and four Rab personnel, including the deputy director of Rab-7 (Feni camp), were injured in a reported gunfight with members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) at Muradpur in Panchlaish area of Chattogram.

The minister said, “Though four Rab members were injured during an operation, their mental strength has not been shattered rather revived. All who were involved in the attack have already been identified.”

“The man who died yesterday (Friday) was a top drug trader. Drives are on to arrest the other gang members,” he added. Rab Director General Benzir Ahmed and other senior officials, among others, were also present there.
