Drug recovery from JCD president Rajib, a drama: Khaleda

Strongly denouncing the arrest of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal President Rajib Ahsan, BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia on Tuesday alleged that the information of recovering drug from him is nothing but a hated and conspiratorial drama.
In a statement, she said the government arrested Rajib as part of its evil plan to weaken the opposition’s politics. “The campaign of recovering drug from his car initiated by police several hours after his detention is nothing but a conspiratorial, hated drama …it was done to assassinate characters of the political activists.”The BNP chief said no one saw the seizure of any drug during the JCD president’s arrest. “Police also didn’t say anything about it on the spot. So, false and fabricated information circulated well after the incident by police is motivated and defamatory. It’s mere a conspiratorial bid to create confusion in public mind about an honest and ideal political activist like Rajib.”
On Sunday night, law enforcers arrested Rajib and his five associates allegedly with 45 Yaba pills and a bottle of hard liquor in a car at Lebukhali Ferryghat in Dumki upazila.
Khaleda claimed that the law enforcers conducted a drive on the same day in Dhaka and Narsingdi to arrest JCD general secretary Akramul Hasan. “It demonstrates that Rajib Ahsan was arrested as per political decision and the campaign of drug recovery is a hated propaganda.”
She demanded the immediate release of Rajib and other opposition leaders and activists arrested on ‘false and fabricated charges’.
Reminding the government that no unelected and anti-people regime could cling to power resorting to repressive acts, the BNP chief said the fall of this ‘illegal and undemocratic’ government is just a matter of time in the face of people’s united movement.”- UNB
