DU female students demand safe campus

Female students of the Dhaka University brought out a procession on the campus demanding safe campus and release of quota reform movement leaders.

Over a hundred students of Ruqayyah Hall, Begum Shamsunnahar Hall, and others brought out a procession in front of Ruqayyah Hall around 11:30 am and paraded the campus chanting slogans.

Their other demands are—immediate arrest of the attackers and their punishment, publishing of gazette on quota reform at the earliest and bearing of medical expenses of injured students.

The students also held a press conference in from the gate of Ruqayyah Hall.

From the press conference, they declared to boycott all the classes and exams until release of the arrested students.

Earlier on Wednesday night, female students staged demonstrations at their respective dormitories.

Meanwhile, another group of students under the banner of DU General Students formed a human chain at the foot of Raju Sculpture in front of TSC. This group allegedly enjoys the blessings of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), the student wing of Awami League.

They alleged that now the leaders and activists of Jamaat-Shibir and left wing student groups are trying to make campus unsafe and create unrest situation in the name of quota reform movement.

Meanwhile, teachers and students of Sociology Department of the university formed a human chain at the foot of Aparajeyo Bangla protesting attack and arrest of Moshiur Rahman, a quota reform activist and a second year student of the department.

Moshiur Rahman, co-convener of quota reform movement, was missing from July 2.

Moshiur, now at Keraniganj jail, was shown arrested on Wednesday.

From the human chain, they declared to boycott class until return of Moshiur at class.

Chairperson Nehal Karim and Associate Professor Samina Lutfa of the department were present at the rally.
