DUCSU demands release of eminent personalities

Dhaka-Student leaders of Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) of ‘90 and All-Party Students Unity have demanded the release of eminent personalities including senior journalist Shafik Rehman, Amardesh editor Mahmudur Rahman and Nagorik Oikya leader Mahmudur Rahman Manna before the Eid-ul-Fitr.They should be released to remove concern and apprehension among the people on availing justice in the country and for the sake of protection of democratic rights of belonging holding different opinion,” they said in a joint statement yesterday.
Former DUCSU GS Khairul Kabir Khokan issued the press statement.
Referring to the imprisonment of senior journalist Shafik Rehman, Amardesh editor Mahmudur Rahman and politician Mahmudur Rahman Manna, they alleged that as under trial prisoners they have the rights to get bail but it is totally being violated under the government.
The signatories in the statement are: former DUCSU VP Amanullah Aman, GS Khairul Kabir Khokan, Habibur Rahman Habib, Fazlul Haque Milon, Nazimuddin Alam, Mostafizur Rhman Babul, Saifuddin Ahmed Moni, Khandaker Lutfor Rahman, Asaduzzaman Asad and Salahuddin Torun.-STAFF REPORTER
