The Election Commission on Saturday fined four mayoral candidates and three councilor candidates of Chougachha municipality for violating code of conduct.Chougachha Municipality returning officer Susoma Sultana said they fined to BNP-backed mayoral candidate Selim Reza Awalia, Awami League-backed mayoral candidate Nuruddin Al Mamun Himel, independent candidate SM Saifur Rahman Babul and Kamal Ahmed Tk 10, 000 each while three councilor candidates Tk 15,000 each.
They were fined for using two loudspeakers with one publicity-vehicle and hanging colorful posters, Susoma Sultana said.
On November 24, Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Kazi Rakibuddin Ahmad announced the election schedule for the 234 municipalities out of the country’s 323 slating for December 30.
