Industries Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun on Tuesday said the work on the Central Effluent Treatment Plant (CETP) at Savar Tannery Estate will complete soon for smooth management of solid waste.
He came up with the remarks when a delegation of Bangladesh Tanners’ Association met him at his office.Mentioning that the leather industry has a huge potential, the minister underscored the need for producing world class leather goods to attract foreign buyers.
He said the government remains alert to ensure environment-friendly sustainable development. “Owners of the industries will have to be sincere in this regard.”Humayun also said work is underway to establish two more tannery estates in Chattogram and Rajshahi to flourish the leather industry.
