Eid likely Friday

DHAKA: As the holy Eid-Ul-Fitr has been celebrated in the holy city of Makkah and the rest of the Arab World today, this greatest religious festival of the Muslims is ;likely to be celebrated in Bangladesh tomorrow. The observance of fasting also had began in Makkah one day ahead of Bangladesh.The National Moon-sighting Committee will sit on this evening to set the date of Eid-ul-Fitr after reviewing news of sighting the Shawal moon.
The Press Information Department (PID) on Wednesday said the people have requested to inform the foundation if the moon is sighted from anywhere in the country.
The main jamaat of Eid-ul-Fitr festival in the city will be held at the National Eidgah on the High Court premises at 8:30am on Friday, if the Shawal moon is sighted this evening.
Islami Foundation public relation officer Billal Bin Kasem informed the matter on Wednesday.
A large pendal has already been set up at the National Eidgah to facilitate the offering of the Eid prayers in case of inclement weather.
Five Eid jamats are expected to be held at the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque at 7am, 8 am, 9 am, 10 am and 11 am, sources said.
