Eid shopping gains momentum in Gaibandha

Eid-shopping has gained momentum in the shopping centers of upazilas
and district town here as the holy Eid-ul- Fitr is knocking at the
door.
Market sources said hundreds of people including men, women, girls,
boys and adolescents are found shopping in the Eid markets and
traditional shops with much enthusiasm.
The peak hour of the buying and selling is in the evening and the rush
of the customers is visible at Salimar Super Market, Imlam Plaza,
Tarafdar Mansion, Quazi Tower, Poura Market, Shapla Market, Station
Road and Elicha Market of the district town.
The markets have been decorated tastefully with some of their gates
being illuminated with colored signs.
Sarees are on the top demand for female customers, Punjabi and Fatua
are for male customers while three-pieces including tight pajamas is
more popular to the young girls and jeans, trousers, fashionable shoes
and short Punjabi are being sold for the young children.
A large number of makeshift shops have been set up on the pavements of
the roads where the buyers mostly of middle class and fixed income
group are found shopping at bargain prices.
The law enforcing agencies have taken adequate measures for
maintaining law and order in the town particularly in markets to
ensure safety of the shopkeepers and the buyers.
Special squads of the elite forces RAB, police and other law enforcing
agencies are patrolling the town round the clock to ensure security,
said superintendent of police M Shajid Hossain.
Besides, authorities and owners of the business establishments,
organisations and centers have also taken their own security measures
that helped further to ensure peaceful law and order situation in the
