Police arrested eight activists of Islami Chhatra Shibir, the student wing of Jamaat-e-Islami, including its Azizul Haque College unit
president, from Satmatha area of the district town on Saturday morning.The arrestees were identified as Shamiul Islam, president of Azizul Haque College unit ICS and its activists Mushfiqur Rahman, Kayes
Uddin, Abdul Matin, Shariful Islam, Uzzal Hossain, Shah Alam and Rezaul Karim.Witnesses said a group of activists of Islami Chhatra Shibir brought out a procession in the area at about 8:00 am as part of their central programme.When they reached in front of Press Club, police chased off the Shibir men dispersing their procession and a clash ensued.The Shibir men hurled three crude bombs on the law enforcers.At one stage, the law enforcers fired seven rubber bullets to disperse them.Police arrested eight Shibir men in connection with the clash.Uzzal Kumar Roy, senior assistant superintendent of police, confirmed the incident. -UNB, Bogra
