‘Ekusher gaan’ now in 12 languages

Amar Bhaier Rokte Rangano Ekushey February’, the most iconic song of the Language Movement that holds a special place in the heart of every Bangladeshi, has been sung in 12 different languages.Besides Bangla, the song, which has become an emblem of 21 February, has been composed and sung in Malay, German, Nepalese, Hindi, French, Spanish, Russian, Chinese, Italian and English languages.A multi-language version of the composition is now available on YouTube.A 22-year-old university student, Nabid Salehin is behind the great initiative. It is he who contacted singers of 16 countries for the version last year.

And, 11 of them responded showing interest in working for his dream-project, said Nabid.Nabid provided the singers with the translated lyrics and compositions of the song and they sent back video clips singing the song in their own languages.This is how ‘Amar Bhaier Rokte Rangano Ekushey February’ got composed in 12 languages.“On the occasion of Ekushey February, we tried to pay our tribute to language martyrs in a different way. This is part of the tribute,” said Nabid.
