‘Ekushey Boi Mela’ draws huge crowd in Khulna

Dhaka- “Ekushey Boi Mela Khulna-2017” today, on the eighth day, drew a huge attraction of a large number of visitors on the Khulna Divisional Public Library premises in Boyra area here by exhibiting books of different genres of literature and other areas of knowledge.Different stalls– Anwesha Prokashani, Isamoti Prokashani, Book Point, Dhrupadi Prokashani, Sabaysachi Prokashani, Khulna Book Depot– displaying different books like arts and literature, educative and documentary books, scientific research or science fiction and so on. Students of Rotary Secondary School organised a cultural programme with poem recitation by BAK Abrity Parishad and Shishu Academy and Surchhanda Cultural Organisation also staged musical soiree accordingly marking the fair.On February 7, two new books– specially for children are “Prithibir Onek Sotti Ami Jani Na” and “Amar Gram Amar Desh”, writing by Md Zahangir Islam– were unveiled on the fair premises.As part of the cultural function, the leading literary organisations including Bangabandhu Sangskritik Goshti, Bangabandhu Sankskritik Jote, Mymenshahi Darpan and a renowned educational institution Navy School and College took part different programme marking the book fair with the presentation of professor SK Azizul Islam Tipu and President of Abritty Kunja Himangsu Biswas.A jute goods product stall namely Jutex inaugurated yesterday by Begum Ferdousi Ali, member of BSS Directory Board, as the chief guest aiming for building awareness about jute products like bags and other handicraft items.
Later, Ferdousi Ali formally unveiled a book “Jiboner Alo”, by Md Abdur Rahman.A total of 82 stalls have been set up in the fair that will remain open for the visitors from 4 pm to 9 pm every day, said Harendranath Bose, member secretary of the Ekushey Boi Mela and secretary of Khulna Public Library.Tight security measures have been taken at the fair premises to check any untoward situation, said KMP Commissioner Nibash Chandra Majhi.”Close Circuit Camera has been set up at the fair premises,” the Commissioner said, adding that plain cloth police side by side DB police have been deployed in and around on the Boi Mela premises.BSS
