Election must be acceptable to all, not just one party: Dr. Kamal

Gono Forum president Dr Kamal Hossain has said that an election has to be acceptable to all and not to a specific party only. A controversial elections brings no good to country, he said.
Addressing a discussion on democracy and today’s Bangladesh at the National Press Club on Friday he said we are united as a nation as far as the fundamental issues are concerned.He was the chief guest at the programme which was also addressed by Nagorik Oikko convener Mahmudur Rahman Manna.
The Gono Forum president said December 16 should be observed nationally under the banner of national unity. It should not be observed under a party banner, he said.
Stating that 50 percent of the people living in Dhaka are slum dwellers, Kamal said discrimination was prevalent across the country.
Rajuk is destroying villages to erect housing facilities for people who are well-off, he said.
Those who own black money have no party identities. Many of them belong to both the big parties, added Kamal.  – News Desk
