Election office torched in Sherpur

Unidentified miscreants torched the election office in Sadarupazila early Sunday.

Mostafizur Rahman, district election officer, said a group of miscreants set fire to a room of the office in

the early hours on Sunday.

On information, a fire fighting unit rushed in and doused the flames at about 9am. Four chairs, a

typewriter, and a ballot box were damaged in the arson attack.

MostafizurRahman also said higher officials were informed about the incident.

Deputy Commissioner of Sherpur and Police Superintendent and UNO visited the spot.

Meanwhile, Saiful Islam, Sadarupazila election officer, filed a case in this connection. –UNB, Sherpur

102 oppn men held in Khulna

Police in an overnight drive arrested 102 opposition activists from different areas in the city and nine

upazilas of the district.

Khulna police control room sources said police arrested 35 opposition activists after launching drives at

different parts of the city for their alleged involvement in subversive activities.

Meanwhile, 67 other opposition activists were arrested from nine upazilas of the district during the
