A two-day training for the election officials of 10th Parliamentary Polls has begun at Gaibandha Govt. Girls’ High School of the town here on Tuesday.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) and Returning Officer of 10th Parliamentary Election M. Zahurul Islam Rhohel addressed the function and inaugurated the training as the chief guest and superintendent of police M. Shajid Hussain and regional election officer Manirul Islam were present as the special guests.
With Sadar UNO Mamunur Rashid in the chair, the function was also addressed, among others, by district election officer M. Shahinoor Islam Pramanik, upazila election officer Shahinur Alam and officer in-charge of Sadar thana Gopal Chandra Chakrabartee.
Speaking on the occasion, DC M. Zahurul Islam in his speeches the government is fully determined to hold a free and transparent national election on January 05 to build a corruption, anarchy and terrorism free society.
The DC also called upon the officials concerned to discharge their election duties with complete neutrality and utmost sincerity rising above all sorts of fear, greed and influences.
Upazila election officer Shahinur Alam said, number of voters and the centers in the upazila is 2, 96,001 and 96 respectively while the number of total booth is 632.
A total of 96 presiding officers, 632 assistant presiding officers and 1,264 polling officers are taking part in the training in different batches, he also said. -BSS, Gaibandha
