Some 295 adolescents and young women, who experienced traumatized lives after becoming victims of child marriage, dowry, sexual abuse, violence, repression and trafficking, have been rehabilitated in Rangpur division.
After their rehabilitation by RDRS Bangladesh, they are engaged now in attaining economic self-reliance and social dignity through restructuring themselves to overcome the traumas they suffered in life through income generation activities.
The success has been achieved during the past five years through dedicated services of Head of Programme Coordination of the reputed NGO Monjushree Saha, who has been working to rebuild shattered lives of the violence victims.
The dedicated woman has engaged herself in serving the suffering humanity through hard endeavor at the Rehabilitation Center ‘Alokita Bhuban’ of RDRS Bangladesh since 2009 and rehabilitated 175 repressed young girls there so far successfully.
Besides, she has contributed in rehabilitating other 120 repressed, oppressed and violence victim young girls and women at the other field level rehabilitation centres in Rangpur division.
Monjushree engaged her total efforts in rehabilitating these violence victim girls and women by providing treatments, legal aid, counsel, education and vocational training to pave their way to achieve self-reliance through income-generation activities.
Talking to BSS, Monjushree said all these rehabilitated violence victim adolescents and young women are hailing from economically backward families of different rural areas in all eight districts of Rangpur division.
She identified discriminatory attitude towards girl children at families, superstitions, religious misinterpretations, eve-teasing, illiteracy, child marriage, dowry, poverty etc as the main reasons behind the tragic stories of these girls. -BSS, Rangpur
