A three-day training for election officers for the 10th parliamentary polls began at Gobindaganj BL High School under Gobindaganj upazila on Tuesday here.
UNO M. Ashrafuzzaman inaugurated the training programme while Deputy Commissioner M Zahirul Islam Rhohel, the returning officer of poll, was the chief guest at the inaugural function. Superintendent of Police M. Shajid Hussain was present as the special guest.
The function was also addressed, among others, by District Election Officer M. Shahinoor Islam Pramanik, Assistant Commissioner (Land) Ovidio Mardy, Upazila Agriculture Officer Khorshed Alam, Upazila Election Officer Ferdous Alam and officer-in-charge of Gobindaganj thana MM. Moynul Islam.
Speaking on the occasion, DC M. Zahurul Islam said the government is determined to hold a free, fair and transparent national election on January 05.
The DC also called upon the officials concerned to discharge their election duties with neutrality and utmost sincerity rising above all sorts of fear.
A total of 130 presiding officers, 667 assistant presiding officers and 1334 polling officers are taking part in the training. -BSS, Gaibandha
