Jamalpur – A young man was killed and another injured in an attack by a wild elephant at Satanipara in Bakshiganj upazila early Monday.
The deceased was identified as Saju Miah, 31, son of Idris Ali, a resident of the area.
Officer-in-charge of Bakshiganj Police Station Aslam Hossain said the wild elephant came down the hills and started eating the standing crops in the paddy fields of the village at about 2:00 am.
The elephant attacked Saju and Khokan as they tried to shoo away the animal, leaving Saju dead on the spot and Khokan injured.
On information, upazila nirbahi officer (UNO) Subroto Pal visited the spot.
