Enclave children’s education, nobody’s concern!

“Enslaved kids at enclaves” a report published in a vernacular daily has drawn my attention. When free and compulsory primary education  has been introduced for a long time, thousands of kids remaining deprived of primary education in the 33 enclaves of Bangladesh, is unacceptable.
The incumbent government has increased primary education up to grade VIII from grade V. What will be the effect this measure for these kids living in the enclaves?BRAC, the largest NGO in the world, is working for cost-effective and quality education. It has programmes in six other countries and has achieved the prestigious WISE prize for serving education.
BRAC Education Programmes are also supporting around 450 local NGOs for serving primary education particularly for the disadvantaged/ drop out students from the mainstream schools. About 7 lakh students are studying under the BRAC Education Programmme.
We urge the concerned authorities to provide free and compulsory education to all including the enclave children from January 2014.
