Speakers at a training course have stressed for enhanced participation of the unemployed rural women in economic activities through income generations to ensure their self-reliance, development and empowerment.
They were addressing concluding ceremony of the month-long training course on sewing organised by RDRS Bangladesh at its Bhadai Federation Office under Aditmari upazila in Lalmonirhat of Thursday afternoon.
The NGO organised the course for 25 unemployed extremely poor women of Saptibari, Bhadai and Mohishkhoncha unions under Programmed Initiative for Monga Eradication Project of the Palli Karmo Sahayak Foundation to assist them attaining self-reliance.
Aditmari Area Manager (Micro Credit) of RDRS Bangladesh Abdul Gani addressed the ceremony as the chief guest with President of Bhadai Federation of RDRS Bangladesh Kamini Kanto Sarker in the chair.
Income Generation Activities Officer of the NGO Dinbandhu Roy, General Secretary of local Press Club Sultan Hossain attended as the special guests.
The speakers put maximum emphasis on skill development for all citizens including unemployed rural females to engage their combined efforts as working forces to achieve the long-cherished goal of building an economically self-reliant nation.
They called upon both the public and private sectors for engaging efforts in producing skilled work forces to turn every citizen worthy when the country’s population increases creating more and more unemployment.
They suggested the trainee women for applying the practical knowledge and technique they achieved from the training course on sewing readymade handloom garments in alleviating poverty and achieving self-reliance.
Later the chief guest distributed one sewing machine and necessary inputs, free of costs, to each of the 25 trainee women, who are extremely poor, to begin their income generating activities at their respective home. –BSS, Rangpur
