EU heads of missions discuss security at monthly meet

Dhaka – Heads of missions of the European Union (EU) held its ‘routine’ monthly meeting here on Sunday discussing various issues of cooperation and future works.
A diplomatic source said it was just a routine meeting to enhance coordination among the EU countries that discussed various issues, including future works.However, another source said the envoys of nine European Union countries also briefly discussed the current safety and security situation and the measures taken by the government in Bangladesh after the killing of two foreign nationals.
The meeting was held at the residence of EU Ambassador Pierre Mayaudon and attended by the heads of missions of EU countries, the source added.
The meeting was attended by the mission chiefs of the UK, Denmark, Sweden, France, Italy, Germany, Spain and the Netherlands.
Earlier, the government gave foreign diplomats here a ‘full picture’ of what it is doing after the killing of two foreign nationals.
They were also assured by the government of a fair and professional investigation into the matters.
Earlier, Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan said the government is giving the highest priority to the arrest of the killers of Ceasare Tavella and Hoshi Kunio. – News Desk
