Dhaka- A court here on Monday placed eight people including former Jamaat-e-Islami lawmaker Shahjahan Chowdhury on remand in a case filed for sabotage act in Chattogram.Chattogram Metropolitan Magistrate Shafi Uddin placed Shahjahan Chowdhury and Abu Taher to two-day remand and six others to three-day remand in the case.
Those who were taken on remand are: Manjur Alam, 33, Mahabub Alam alias Mithu, 32, Minhazul Arefin Aftahi, 24, Abul Bashar, 26, HM Saifuddin, 36 and Russel, 19.
Plainclothes police arrested Shahjahan Chowdhury and seven other leaders and activists from a house in Wireless Murgi Farm area of the city on Friday noon on sabotage charge.
Local leaders of Jamaat-e-Islami said Shahjahan went to the house of former ward councilor and Jamaat leader Mahfuzur Rahman at his invitation.UNB
