An elderly man, who was critically injured in a road accident on the
Jamalpur-Sherpur Highway in the district, died on Monday night.The victim was identified as Abu Taleb,62, a retired engineer of the
Public Health Engineering Department (PHED).
He hails from Gouripur area of Sherpur district town.
Witnesses said Abu Taleb was returning to Sherpur riding a bicycle
from Jamalpur.
On the way, he was critically injured as a human hauler coming from
the opposite direction ran over him at Choyghoripara.
Locals rushed him to Sherpur Sadar Hospital where on-duty doctors
declared him dead.
Namaj-e-janaza of Taleb was held in Maitribari field at Gouripur.
Majharul Haque, officer-in-charge of Sherpur Sadar Police Station,
confirmed the matter and said they handed over the body to the
deceased’s family members without autopsy on approval of the
additional district magistrate.
