Exhibition of rare drawings at Bengal Shilpalaya

DHAKA: An eight-day exhibition of rare drawings from the collections of country’s one of the eminent photographers Nasir Ali Mamun began at Bengal Shilpalaya in Dhanmondi.

Veteran educationist Anisuzzaman inaugurated the show, titled ‘Taar Alo Taar Chhaya’, Tuesday evening with noted art critic Mainuddin Khaled as special guest.

The show will remain open everyday from 12:00pm to 8:00pm till December 26.

A total of 101 drawings from 37 artists including Shilpachariya Zainul Abedi, Patua Qamrul Hasan, SM Sultan and Mohammad Kibria are being displayed at the gallery.

Some artworks by noted Indian artists are also on display.

The exhibition also features drawings by poet Shamsur Rahman, novelist Humayun Ahmed and filmmaker Mrinal Sen, among others.

The proceedings from the exhibition will be used in establishing a ‘photoseum’, a long-cherished dream for a photo-museum by the photographer.

Nasir Ali Mamun has earned reputation for his portrait photography. He had collected the artworks done by both artists and people of other professions.
