A gang of extortionist a ttacked journalist leader’s house demandingextortion money at Chelopara under the town on Tuesday.The journalist leader Mahfuz Mondal is working in “The Daily Independent” as Bogra district Correspondent and he is also a Joint
Secretary of Journalist Union of Bogra. A complaint is submitted with the sadar police station on that night.
Witness said on Tuesday night at around 8.15pm when the journalist was working in his office in the town the extortionist group led by
Labbu Miah inhabitant of Sutrapur in the town among other Hiru, Putu, Rabiul, Ajijul with 10/12 unidentified miscreants came by a white coloured jeep and three motor-bikes and attacked the journalist’s house and demand Tk.4, 76,000 as extortionist money and they threatened to kill journalist wife and children until they pay the amount of money.
On information TSI Saiful Islam of police outpost of Naruli rushed in the spot then the miscreants flee away sensing presence of the police.
Now they are continuing threats over cell phone.
The incident has been reported to the Police Supper Md Mozammel Haque PPM, Sr. Assistant Police Super A’ circle Najir Ahmed Khan, Officer in Charge (OC) of shadar PS Sayed Shaheed Alam and requested to take proper action against the extortionists.
The investigation officer of the incident SI Masud Rana told that he has taken the complaint and will be take action soon.
