State Minister for Posts and Telecommunications Tarana Halim on Sunday said Facebook authorities will respond within 48 hours to the complaints of Bangladesh government over issues relating to violence against women and militant acts through the social networking site.The Facebook authorities have assured the government of providing necessary feedback in case of complaints over the issues within a short time, she said.
The junior minister came up with the disclosure while talking to reporters at a press briefing at the Secretariat.
The Facebook authorities have said they will give feedback as soon as possible, she said adding, “They’ll respond it within 48 hours if Bangladesh provides any URL to them (Facebook).”
Earlier, on November 18, Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Authority (BTRC) suspended the operation of social networking platforms Facebook, Messenger, Viber and WhatsApp in Bangladesh for security reasons.
The government lifted the ban on Facebook on December 10, 22 days after it had blocked.
