Falu, not in FIR, put under on fresh remand

The Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court of Dhaka yesterday (Wednesday) placed BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia’s adviser Mosaddek Ali Falu on a fresh remand for five days in a case filed for arson attack.

Magistrate Tarek Moinul Islam Bhuiyan of the CMM Court passed the order after hearing on the remand plea of police and the bail petition of the defence. The court rejected the bail petition, submitted on behalf of Mosaddek Ali Falu.

Earlier, the police produced Falu to the court with a fresh remand of ten days on Wednesday afternoon in a case filed with Mirpur Model Police Station under the Explosive Substances Act and the Special Power Act. It has been alleged that BNP leader Falu instigated the opposition activists to carry out an arson attack on a bus at Mirpur-1 on January 28 this year. The case was filed with the police station against 43 people.

Falu’s name was not mentioned in the First Information Report (FIR) of the case, but police said the BNP leader has to be quizzed to find out information about the absconding accused.
