Farmers urged to farm quality sugarcane

Speakers at a function here urged the farmers to farm high quality sugarcane on their lands of mill zone areas to get its bumper production in a bid to earn economical profit.
“An emphasis should be given to familiarize the farmers with the modern and the latest technologies for farming sugarcane to get desired output against the crop aimed at running the mill smoothly”, they said.They made the comments while addressing an assembly of sugarcane farmers organized by Rangpur Sugar Mills Limited (RSML) located at Mohimaganj under Gobindaganj upazila in the district on Sunday marking the farm day-2018.
Chairman of Bangladesh Sugar and Food Industries Corporation (BSFIC) AKM Delwar Hossain addressed the function as the chief guest and director (Sugarcane Development and Research), BSFIC Krishibid Mosarrof Hossain and managing director of Joypurhat Sugar Mills Limited Mostafa Kamal were present as the special guests.
With MD of RSML Anwar Hossain Akanda in the chair, the function was also addressed, among others, by general manager (Finance) of RSML Nazmul Huda, president of Rangpur Sugar Mills Sramik-Karmachari Union SM Jalal Uddin, sugarcane farmers’ leader Jinnat Ali Prodhan and sugarcane farmers Abdur Rashid Dhalu and Babita Begum.
Agri-expert Krishibid Mosarrof Hossain briefed the farmers about the latest technologies of sugarcane farming in the days ahead elaborately to attain the cherished goals of the mill.
Chairman of BSFIC AKM Delwar Hossain advised the farmers to produce quality sugarcane to make the RSML, only heavy industry here, more functional considering the interest of the district.
The chairman also urged the farmers to utilize the unused land and ponds of RSML through farming vegetables, fruits and fishes to meet the demand of nutrition side by side with earning money, reports AFP, Gaibandha.
