Fatepur to become climate-resilient beautiful village

Fatepur village under Saddyapuskorini union of Rangpur Sadar upazila of the district will become an ideal, climate-resilient and environment-friendly beautiful place decorated with fruit,
timber and other varieties of trees.
“The Barind Multipurpose Development Authority (BMDA) has undertaken a tree plantation programme to turn Fatepur into a tree-decorated model village with eye-catching looks,” said BMDA’s Assistant Engineer AKM Mashiur Rahman.Rahman disclosed the information while presiding over a function titled ‘Distribution of cost-free fruit tree saplings to create tree-decorated model village’ organised by BMDA at Fatepur village on Saturday afternoon.
Sadar Upazila Parisahd Chairman Nasima Zaman Boby addressed the event and distributed saplings of mango, blackberry and olive trees to members of 150 families of the village as the chief guest.
Member of Rangpur Zila Parisahd and president of district unit of Bangladesh Awami Swechchasebak League Sirajul Islam Pramanik and chairman of Saddyapuskorini Union Parishad Md Sohel Rana addressed as special guests.
Engineer Rahman said BMDA has taken a massive programme to distribute fruit tree saplings to the common people with a view to creating a number of model tree-decorated villages.
“Under the programme, we distributed fruit-tree saplings at Fatepur to turn the village into a model one decorated with trees also to improve environment and adapt to adverse impacts of climate change,” he said.
Highly appreciating the initiative of BMDA, the chief guest said plantation of tree saplings followed by taking proper care would definitely turn Fatepur into a beautiful rural community side by side with improving environment and ecology.
She called upon the villagers, including students and younger generations, for planting at least three tree saplings annually and talking care of those properly.
“Tree plantation is the most effective way to create an eco-friendly green nature and mitigate adverse impacts of climate change in bringing environmental equilibrium to attain sustainable economic development,” she added, reports BSS from Rangpur.
