A female cop allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself at Chakpathak in the district town on Monday afternoon.
The deceased was identified as Jahura Akhter Mona, 24, a constable of Sadar Police Station and wife of Palash Mia of the area.
Police said Mona was married off to Palash of Putal village in Sarishabari upazila of Jamalpur district on October 10, 2010. They have been blessed with a seven-month-old boy child.
However, the couple had marital difficulties as they used to have discord frequently.
On Monday, Mona and Palash picked an altercation around 5pm. Later, Mona killed herself by hanging from the ceiling of her house.
Confirming the incident, officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station Mazharul Karim said they detained Palash for interrogation. – UNB
