Ferry capsizes in the Padma near Dhaka during storm: Body recovered

Manikganj – The body of a worker, who went missing after a sand-laden trawler capsized in the Padma river in Shibalaya upazila as a storm sweep over the area on Sunday evening, was recovered on Tuesday morning, unb news agency reported.The deceased was identified as Kuddus Pramanik, 55, hailing from Char Tarapur village of Pabna Sadar upazila.
Mahmud Alam, station officer of Manikganj fire station, said they recovered the floating body of Kuddus from the river near Paturia ghat in the morning.
Earlier, a soil-laden trawler capsized in the river near Paturia ghat in Shibalaya upazila as a nor’wester hit the region on Sunday evening leaving two of its workers missing.
Another missing worker was Rahij Pramanik, 50,
Farid Hossain, River Traffic Inspector of BIWTA’s Aricha regional office, said the sand-laden trawler capsized in the river during the storm around 7pm while eight workers were returning from the other side of the river after loading the vessel.
Six workers managed to swim ashore while two others went missing.
