Ferry services on Paturia-Daulatdia route resume

Ferry services on the Paturia-Daulatdia route in the Padma river resumed after 12 and a half hours of disruption caused by dense fog on Wednesday morning.Bidyut Kumar Saha, manager of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) at Aricha, said they kept suspended ferry services and plying of the water vessels from 10:00pm on Tuesday to 10:30am on Wednesday due to blurred visibility for dense fog.  Four ferries—Barkat, Shahali, Kumari and Shaplashaluk—lay motionless in the middle of the Padma.
Seven ferries with a large number of vehicles and passengers were kept anchored at Daulatdia and five ferries at Paturia.
Passengers suffered as a good number of vehicles were kept waiting on both sides of the river for crossing.
Ferry services on the important route resumed around 10:30 am as fog started disappearing after the sunrise. -UNB, Manikganj
