FIFA president congratulates former FIFA referee Tayeb

DHAKA – FIFA president Gianni Infantino today congratulated the former FIFA referee Tayeb Hasan who recently sold his jersey through action to raise fund to help the people hit hard by coronavirus pandemic.

The congratulatory letter read that: “I heard about your decision to put your jerseys of the 2013 SAFF-final on auction for the fight against the COVID-19, and I wanted to congratulate you for this beautiful gesture.”

In these difficult moments, praiseworthy initiatives like yours allow to relieve the suffering of many and offer hope in better days, as well as showing the beautiful side of football to which I believe, a football that contributes to the good of the country and the community in which it lives, in a spirit of solidarity and sharing, the letter added.

Tayeb’s jersey sold for Tk 5.55 lakh, with Satkhira Chamber of Commerce president Nasim Faruk Khan the winning bidder.

Tayeb was wearing the jersey he auctioned while officiating the 2013 SAFF Championship final between India and Afghanistan. The base price of the jerseys was at Taka two lakh.BSS
