A fire broke out at a carbon factory at Narendrapur in Sadar upazila of Jessore district on Monday night.Ruhul Quddus, acting assistant director of Jessore Fire Service and Civil Defence, said the fire erupted in the factory of Khulna Carbon Industries Limited, a Chinese venture, in the area around 7.30pm. It could not be ascertained immediately what caused the fire.On information, four firefighting units from Sadar, Abhaynagar and Manirampur stations rushed in and doused the flame after four hours of frantic efforts.Officials of the affected factory claimed that the extent of loss from the fire could go up to Tk10 lakh. -UNB, Benapole
