Fire at Old Dhaka again, 3 suffer burn injuries

Dhaka, Mar 2 (UNB) – Three people sustained burn injuries as a fire broke out at a scrap-metal store in Kamalbagh area of the old part of the city on Saturday afternoon. 

The injured are store owner’s son Sumon Khan, 30, its stuffs Sumon, 35 and Nur Alam, 32.  

All of them were admitted to the Burn Unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), said Inspector Bacchu Miah, in-charge of the hospital police outpost. 

One of the victims said the fire was originated from a blast that took place while they were flattening expired and scrapped bottles of body-spray inside the store.

Soon after the fire started engulfing the surrounding areas, locals rushed to the spot and doused it with their own efforts and rescued them, he said.

The fire incident happened just 10 days after the fatal fire that broke out at a chemical warehouse in Chawkbazar area of Old Dhaka on Febarury 20, leaving at least 71 people dead.
