Eight shops were gutted in a fire at Sakhipur Station Bazaar under Vedhorganj upazila of the district early this morning.Local sources said the fire originated from a laundry shop of the bazaar at about 3 am and soon engulfed the adjacent shops.Locals and shop owners extinguished the fire at about 4.30 am.Shop owners claimed that valuables worth about Taka 50 lakh were burnt to ashes in the fire. -BSS, Shariatpur
