A prize giving ceremony to inspire successful fishermen was held on
Tuesday at Upazila Parishad Auditorium. Brigadier General (rtd) SK Abu
Baker MP distributed prizes among the successful fish cultivators of
the district as chief guest. The local lawmaker along with other
government officials also released fish fries in the upazila pond.
Arranged by Fisheries directorate the ceremony was presided over by
deputy commissioner of Narail Md. Zahurul Haque. It was addressed,
among others, by police super Sardar Rakibul Islam, Sadar upazila
chairman Sharif Humayun Kabir, UNO sadar Shah Abdul Saadi and district
fisheries officer (DFO) Md. Golam Rabbani.
Successful fish cultivators of young ruhis, ruhi, prawns and carp
varieties of fishes were honoured in the ceremony. Those who were
awarded are Md. Rokab Ali of Bichhali village under Sadar upazila,
Eklim Reza of Naldi village under Lohagara upazila, Md. Jalal Khan of
Kadamtala village under Kalia upazila, Syed Samiul Islam of Goalbathan
village, Ajit Kabiraj of Sitarampur village and Chaina Mondal of Mulia
