Fish worth Tk12 lakh in a pond and an enclosure of a union parishad
member was poisoned to death by miscreants at Sher Ali Madanpur
village in Manirampur upazila of Jessore early Tuesday.
The affected fish farmer is Kasimnagar Union Parishad member Shafiar
Rahman, son of Hasan Ali Gazi of the village.
His family members alleged a gang, including Alam, Nur Nabi, Mukul,
Joni, Shariful and Mahbub, residents of the village, poured poison
into fish enclosure and pond of Shafiar in the dead of night over an
attempt to murder case filed against them, leaving all fish dead.
On September 22, the gang swooped on Shafiar’s family members over
previous enmity, leaving him critically injured and he was later
admitted to Manirampur Upazila Health Complex.
In this connection, a case was filed against them, which infuriated
them and they killed the fish by poisoning, the victim claimed. -UNB,
